Over the last week I have seen nothing short of a media frenzy over A-Rod’s somewhat disappointing admission to doing some sort of maybe kind of illegal drug that has a nickname no one knows and was obtained from a cousin we’re not even sure exists, for a duration that is at best suspect. OK, yes, his story downright sucks. He’s lied several times and incriminated himself. He’s due to have a book come out about him soon that will probably sell like hotcakes as people try and find little shreds of evidence they can pile against the All-Star and speculate even more. I’m even sure a made-for-TV movie is going to come out starring Tony Danza as Alex Rodriguez.
Although he’s not quite the prospect that Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was, this former Missouri Tiger is not one to be looked over. He’s got great size for his position and an instinct for the ball. He’s got good speed and he’s physical. He’s got the confidence and skills to back it up.
Sometimes religion will cause a disruption in sports, though not often. We usually overlook connections between athletes and their faith, until someone sacrifices one to give priority to the other. It’s obvious that the Christian majority is more willing to make religious sacrifices, with Sunday events plentiful on sports calendars, and even falling on the holiest of Christian holidays. But for other sectors of the spiritual world, the decisions aren’t that easy, and regardless of decisions made, they may face scrutiny for their choice.
They were so secret that no one can be sure when or where the very first one actually took place or exactly who was present. We have a general idea about the when part though. It was certainly after the season was over, meaning it took place sometime in the last three months.
The where part [...]
After a Monday termination, Kerr is standing as a Wednesday genius. The Suns responded with a 140 point performance under interim coach Al Gentry. They were back and firing on all cylinders, according to plenty of media sources. But as for myself, I can’t buy it so easily, because the other side of the story, and court, is telling. The 140-100 Tuesday victory came against the Los Angeles Clippers. Since when does a defeat of the Clips make anyone “genius” or bring any team back?
Can you hear it? It’s yet another thunderous thud. No. 1 Connecticut is dropped by Pitt, and it’s quickly followed by No. 5 Michigan State getting smacked by Purdue. The college basketball season is a noisy one, especially for programs hovering near the top. But listen again, can you hear that? That’s southern silence. Those are your Memphis Tigers quietly dodging the falling trees and creeping closer to becoming one of the top tournament seeds.

The NFL draft is a touchy situation for quarterback hopefuls. More than any other position, team need stands the greatest determining factor of a young signal caller’s descent. You can appear near the top of a list of prospects for the position, but still inevitably see a sizable gap between the first quarterback taken and your draft selection.
Rodriguez took an unfamiliar road, coming clean and offering his apology to fans and the league. His publicist drew it up perfectly, resulting in many having post-interview admiration for a man stepping up to the plate at the end of a game. Six years after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, A-Rod gave a confession, and the reparation stage had begun, supposedly. But a week later, it’s learned that the “admirable” man, apologizing for fabrications of old, couldn’t finish the interview without lies anew.
The NBA All Star weekend has come to a close, and I’ve decided to touch on a few of the events, in no particular order. If you ask me, the Saturday before the big game is the most attractive of the 3-day NBA promotional tour. They can honestly skip the game and hold a 3 hour concert instead. But of course, also allowing those players voted “All Stars” by the fans to somehow participate in the festivities. But anyway, let’s take a look at some of what transpired since the NBA entered the mode of relaxation.
