I want everyone who cares even one little bit to leave a comment. He’s 23, famous, an 8-time gold-medal winner and has the lung capacity of two regular humans. Wouldn’t you smoke some weed too? In a reaction to the now-infamous bong picture, USA Swimming has suspended him for three months and Kellogg’s has dropped his endorsement contract. The worst part was Phelps’s pathetic apology. The poor guy had to pretend he was sorry in public, and no one (besides Ted Haggert) should have to do that.
A question that is thrown around everywhere you go is: “Did Montana make Rice a better receiver or did Montana make Rice a better quarterback?” Both of the answers are correct to that question. Rice would have fared poorly if a quarterback of the caliber, say, Joey Harrington was passing him the ball. Same with Montana if he had a number one receiver by the name of J.J. Stokes or somebody.
For the second straight year, the Arizona Wildcats (18-8) find their consecutive streak of NCAA tournament appearances in jeopardy. And just as they did in the previous season, the Cats have come roaring with a response. A weekend sweep of the Los Angeles schools, including a victory over 6th ranked UCLA, likely moves [...]
The Cowboys priority during this off season needs to be a quality backup quarterback. It would be best to pick up a QB with experience and that could push Tony Romo. Doyle and I discussed this on the radio a few weeks ago. The issue will be a lack of quality backup quarterbacks on the market. It is doubtful that Warner or Collins will be allowed to be true free agents and I also doubt either will be interested in riding the bench behind Romo. Garcia may be the best option but he is unlikely to come to Dallas with Owens still on the roster.
Coming from a small school that nobody knows has many disadvantages. However, when given the opportunity, big players step up. Enter Dominique Edison. A good sized receiver with good intangibles. He is a project of sorts, but could very well be a solid investment.
There’s never been a more odd combination for this coming weekend than the likes of Cupid being celebrated with the newly surfaced hockey mask wearing Jason Vorhees. But with Valentines Day and Friday the 13th stealing the popular headlines, this is an action packed sports weekend poised to make headlines of its own.
Just because he comes from San Jose St., do not discount Jarron Gilbert. The guy has an amazing burst in leg strength and uses his hands very well to gain position. He’s got great power in both his upper and lower body. He executes a very reliable swim move to get into the backfield, as his stats can confirm.
I am not really sure why I always remember this date. I remember the day that John Lennon was shot and I remember the day that Tom Landry died.
Maybe it represents two things that virtually saved me in different periods of my life…music and sports.
I always still feel the sadness…not so much of watching him [...]
Athletes can lose scholarships for a variety of reasons. Those free-rides are yanked for poor academic performance, rules violations, arrests, or any actions that relinquish the amateur status. But can a coach snatch your scholarship simply because they didn’t like you? In 2007, Washington coach Ty Willingham informed red-shirt seniors that they [...]
