I love the game of football. That doesn’t make me special at all. Millions of people love the game just as much as me, some probably even more. I guess the love of the game for me started on my 4th birthday, when I received a Kordell Stewart jersey as a gift from my Steelers fan uncle John. So I was four. I could probably tell you the team colors and that’s about it. But it was a start.
Less than 24 hours after Jay Cutler put in a formal request to be traded by Denver, rumors were swirling over future destinations. The most popular pick of the grapevine is Detroit, where the Lions are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation. Another is the New York Jets, fresh off the Brett Favre project, and now starting from scratch.
Last post I discussed position strategies for all offensive positions players except catchers. This post I am reviewing strategies for pitchers and catchers.
Joe Flacco really reminds me of Ben Roethlisberger in a lot of ways. Like his size, mobility, arm strength and so on. He’s going to be really good. All this being said, the AFC North is going to be fun to watch for the coming years, simply because of the Ravens-Steelers rivalry. Three games this year and all three were rough on both teams. The Ravens have the best chance to take the division from the Steelers.
Boston’s Kevin Youkilis didn’t hesitate to blast the American public for what he describes as a lack of pride and support for the nation’s favorite pastime. The first baseman’s disgust was rooted in the empty seats of Dolphins Stadium for Team USA games. And in an expression of his feelings, he fired off, by calling the American baseball fans an “embarrassment”.
Does anyone besides me (ie. a fellow “old fart”) remember “Bristol Stomp”? The song was done in 1961 by the Dovells (who DOESN’T remember THEM?), an a-capella (that means they couldn’t afford instruments) singing group from Philly.
Well, they do have the lethal combination of Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton at quarterback! And when you have either of those throwing to Hester, it’s an automatic win, right? Rex “Screw it, I’m goin’ deep” Grossman to Devin Hester for six!!!! You hear that a lot don’t you?
But March often brings me back to my “what if” theory, as I stare into a basketball generation of “one-and-done” players. What if certain players didn’t opt to pass over college ball for the NBA? How many additional numbers could have been added to the totals for previous champions, and how many newer champs would have less? There are several players starring in the NBA that would have greatly impacted the results of March.
