Fantasy Football is for Chicks Too

untitled-1
I have been an avid fantasy football player for about ten years. I got hooked on it and can be very competitive. Reg will vouch for me on that. I know fantasy football can be overwhelming…with terms like Dynasty…Keepers…Re-drafts…..and on and on. The reality is…you don’t have to be involved on that level to have fun.

So, here is Deb’s fantasy football advice. People will tell you to draft RBs first….Draft them first, and keep drafting them. Or the three year rule on WR’s…but MY advice…SOMEWHERE along the line…draft one of your favorite players. It’s more fun that way, and we’re still on the fun level.

But following someone that is a favorite will make the rest more worthwhile.

I am not a great football mind, but I study. Yahoo does a nice job of providing matchups, so always keep an eye on that. Is Tom Brady playing against the worst pass rushing defense in the league?….know those things.

I also keep an eye on the waiver wire. That is my favorite part. I LIVE for the wire. I have never been a trader and I know that’s part of it..but that’s never been me. I like to study the movement…I like to find that diamond in the rough…and try to get them on my team before anyone else does. That’s the real thrill for me. Be willing to take chances.

I have never been one of those homer types in fantasy football…not mentioning names, but I’ve played against full teams of people with Stars on their helmets. I advise against that. The biggest reason is, what are you going to do for the bye week? I don’t play with my heart on that stuff. I have my own favorite player and the rest is a business.

We have a lot of fantasy gurus on this site, and I encourage anyone that has never participated in a league…to try one this year. Anyone can do it.
