No Guts reader Keezy W send us his beefs with Slam’s new top 50 list.
Slam Magazine has released their new list of the top 50 Greatest NBA players of all time. The first list was made in 1997 and revised for the first time in 2003 and extended to 75 players. In 2009 it’s back to 50 and while it’s not a bad list, I have a few issue with this list.
3. Bill Russell and 4. Shaquille O’Neal…They may have championships and MVP awards but neither one of these guys deserves to be ranked this high. Kareem was better and more skilled than both of them. Shaq isn’t even the 2nd or 3rd best center of all time, so how can he be the 4th best player?
I’ve decided to try to predict where I think the top players in the NHL Free Agent market will end up.* When the clock strikes midnight tonight, NHL Free Agency starts and unrestricted free agents from all 30 teams will be free to sign with whomever they would like.
So lets get right into it, using [...]
The road trip that some would say could be the key to holding the AL East until the All Star Break had been a success so far, the team had gone 2-1 verse both teams so far, and 4-2 overall.
Now they came into Baltimore, the Fenway of the South due to the same winds inside [...]
In any defense, the tackles may be the most important part.
They are the first line, and they’re the tone-setters. Their play can determine the difficulty or ease of the linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties behind them.
If the line is playing well and keep the linebackers clean, odds are that team will be fairly successful. If they’re [...]
Lee Harold Carmichael was a seventh round draft choice of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1971 NFL Draft. He was the 161st player chosen overall.
Carmichael attended Southern University in his collegiate career. While starting all four years at wide receiver, he never led the Jaguars in receptions.
Robiskie Fitting in With Browns
NFL.com’s Steve Wyche highlights the opportunity being presented to the Browns’ young wideouts in 2009 in lieu of Donte Stallworth’s likely suspension…and the alarming lack of overall depth at the position.
Convicted investor/ former Nasdaq chairman Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison today. I’ll be the first and probably not the last to tell you that Arizona Diamondbacks fans probably feel the same about their team as Bernie Madoff feels right now.
There is one difference though - Bernie Madoff deserved every minute he got and then some. He swindled millions out of investors and left many pennieless. I am glad to see he got the maximum he could have received.

The always great Terry Pluto delivers some much needed Browns’ talking points on this late June, very much non-football related Sunday. Pluto focuses his attention on the Browns’ defense, which has received a lot of attention recently, thanks to the presence of new coordinator Rob Ryan, who has revealed that he wants to run multiple formations in an attempt to pressure opposing offenses. Pluto’s emphasis on the defensive reconstruction in Berea further highlights the need for the unit to essentially carry the team in 2009.
Terry Pluto - Terry’s Talkin”
1. It was fun to hear new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan say: “We want to be multiple [defenses] and we want to have multiple players who can play different spots and cause confusion.”
Now that the dust has kinda settled from this year’s NBA draft, we can finally get into the debate of which decade has had the best #1 draft picks. Of course, some haven’t had the time to really make their case and we’re completely aware of this fact (so no need to bring it up), [...]
