Lester Has Great Start, Sox Win 8-2

Jon Lester started the season slowly, his record fell fast to a 3-5 start. He needed a big win, and today he got a great start.
Lester went through 6 innings, giving only three hits on one run and having his bullpen give a solid last three.
Masterson came in the seventh, and pitched two innings with only two hits. Though Alex Rios belted a solo home run off him, that did not dent a good show. Then Ramon Ramirez came in the ninth to shut the book, just giving a walk as he took the last three outs with him.
Meanwhile, the offense raged against the Blue Jays pitching. Ricky Romero had started the season strong and was off to a 2-1 record, but he was not ready for a great offensive team in the Sox.
Youkilis started the game off, showing hes ready to take the East by storm with a solo home run. The Jays scored in the bottom of the 1st though, and it looked as if he might blow it again.
He did not. Lester kept his game clean, and the offense took it from there. In the 4th, Dustin Pedroia showed why he was MVP as he belted a three run home run with Ortiz (gasp!) and Varitek on.
In the fifth inning, the Sox did it again. Mike Lowell hit a solo home run to make the Red Sox lead 5-1. The Sox scored another two in the 7th inning, as Kevin Youkilis had his second home run of the game with a solo.
The lead was now 7-1, and it becam clear it was a Sox win.
Jason Bay then hit one more for the team, having his own blast to make it a 8-2 game. It was his 15th home run of the season.
The Red Sox must be glad they weren’t swept by the Jays, and with the Yankees losing all is well. They now lead the season series at 4-2 against Toronto.
What else is good? Even though David Ortiz only went 1 for 5, the fact he scored and had an impact in the game is a great one to Sox fans.
Its just another great day to be Sox fan.
