Shaq Going Old School With His Jersey Number

Even though Shaq hasn’t find a house in Cleveland yet, he has making himself at home with a new jersey number.

Shaquille O’Neal decided to wear number 33 in honor of his high school and college days at LSU before he went pro. O’Neal wore number 32 when he was with the Orlando Miami, and Phoenix.

When he was with the Lakers, O’Neal wore number 34 because Nos. 32 and 33 were retired in honor of Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

In Cleveland, O’Neal will be teammates with LeBron James, the latest in a long line of superstar partners to pair with the entertaining enter. O’Neal has previously paired with Anfernee Hardaway, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and Steve Nash. He won three titles with Bryant with the Lakers and one with Wade in Miami.

James is after his first championship, and the Cavs believe O’Neal can help him get over the championship drought.

The only problem is, Shaq hasn’t arrived in Cleveland. Once he does arrive in Ohio next week, expect the city of Cleveland to roll out the red carpet full or balloons, confetti, cake, ice cream…oh you know, the whole deal.

A frequent user of Twitter, the social networking site, the 37-year-old O’Neal posted a message late Thursday night saying he planned to play longer than the one year he has left under contract.

That’s if he has enough gas left in the Superman tank.
