recchi

He was getting an experienced veteran who was in his 20th season in the*NHL.***He was getting*a 10 time All Star and who had*raised two Stanley Cups.* He was getting a guy who has scored 545 career goals,*897 assists and 1442 points for his career.** In those 20 seasons in the NHL, Recchi has reached or exceeded the 20 goal plateau in all but 4 of those seasons.*

Recchi, along with a second round pick in the 2010 draft, was traded from Tampa Bay to Boston in exchange for defenseman Matt Lashoff and* forward Martin Karsums.

Last week, Chiarelli re-signed Recchi to a 1 year $1 million deal.* This will be Recchi’s final season in what has been a tremendous Hall of Fame career.

Recchi was brought to Boston to give them a natural left shooting forward*who could not only score goals*but who could provide leadership to a very young team that was getting alot of publicity and whos expectations were growing*win after win.* To go along with captain Zdeno Chara’s influence and leadership, Recchi has not only been to the postseason but has claimed the NHLs most coveted prize.* A prize that was on not only the players minds but also the city of Bostons.

In 18 games with the Bruins, Recchi posted 10-6-16 totals.* In 11 playoff games he recorded 3-3-6 totals, while suffering through such painful kidney stones that he had surgery to remove them during the semi-finals against Carolina.* He didn’t miss a game.
