According to Sportsnet.ca, the Philadelphia Flyers signed defenseman Chris Pronger to a seven-year contract extension worth $35 million. The deal includes a no-movement clause.

The 34-year-old blue liner, will make on average $5 million per season, which is lower than his cap hit for this upcoming season. This year, his cap hit is $6.25 million.

On Monday at his press conference, Pronger said that he would like to retire a Flyer. A day later, he took one giant step towards that.

With the Ducks last year, Pronger tallied 11 goals and had 37 assists in all 82 games. He’ll be 35-years-old when the season starts, but he showed no signs that he can’t play another five to seven years.

Pronger’s agent, Pat Morris, has a good relationship with Philadelphia, as noted in his ability to turn up contracts. He represents Mike Richards and was the representative for players like Luke Richardson, Chris Therien, and Derian Hatcher.

Pronger was born to be a Flyer, and while it took fifteen years for him to become one. He will end his career in the place where he was born to play.
