Welcome to the quickest story that gives you all the major sports headlines, in under 5 minutes! The clock is ticking, so pour some coffee, and get ready for the latest sports news for friday, July 10th!

The AP reports that Pedro Martinez’s agent is in talks with the Philladelphia Phillies, in a effort to get the pitcher back in the big leagues. “The Phillies saw me this past Tuesday in a simulated game and I felt very good with my fastball and all my pitches” said martinez. If you ask me I think Pedro has something left in the tank, he is not running on empty just yet! I think this would be a good signing for the Phillies!

The controversal and never shy Dana White is now saying he thinks the UFC will be bigger than the NFL in the very near future! “When you look at the world ofsports right now, nothing in this country is bigger than the NFL. But I know for a fact-I dont think-that we are going to be the biggest sport in the world” said Dana White. If you ask me, the UFC will never be on the same level as the NFL. I think there last couple of pay-per-views, have had duds for main events. Thats not the way you topple the NFL, plus in this economy, free viewing will always beat out $49.99 pay-per views!

Olympic Golden Boy Micheal Phelps can add another World Record to his resume! After making World News in the gossip pages and losing his big endoresment deal with Kellogs, Phelps at one point considered retirement. But thursday Phelps got the one World Record he has wanted for years-the 100 meter butterfly-he would break the record in yesterdays U.S. Championship. “I would have liked to have gone 8-for-8 in Bejing-8 records,8 medals, but it feels good to get one here” said Phelps. If you ask me, Phelps could do just that during the next summer olympics.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that legendary NFL WR Jerry Rice thinks Brett Farve playing for the Vikings could backfire.”Honestly I thought Taveris would be the starting guy this year” Said Rice. Jerry Rice thinks Brett Farve is better off staying retired. “I applaud Brett’s desire to continue his playing career in the NFL, but I think this will end on a bad note” said Rice. If you ask me I thought Brett played great last season before the injury. I think he brings more consistency then Tavaris Jackson brings to the Vikings!

Well thats it for another Sports and Coffee! Thanks for stopping by the Tim Lumber neighborhood! And just like that purple dinasaur likes to say….NOW ITS TIME TO SAY GOODBYE!!
