While MLB teams are teasing us with blockbuster deals, the NBA is picking up the slack by forcing useless trades down our throat.
ESPN’s Mark Stein is reporting that the Bobcats and Hornets have agreed in principle to a trade that will send Tyson Chandler to the Charlotte Bobcats and Emeka Okafor to the Hornets. Does it make either one of them contenders next year? Doubtful. But it’s something. The Hornets seem to be getting the better of the deal, but I wonder about playing Okafor and David West together.
Chris Tillman, the Orioles’ top pitching prospect, has now been called up from Triple-A Norfolk to begin his big league career.
He will be facing a weak-hitting offense in Kansas City, so picking up the “W” in his big-league debut shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Not so fast.
And you thought the Michael Vick reinstatement was the biggest NFL story of the day…
Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian have moved from the list of America’s hottest couples to America’s hottest singles. The celebrity duo has called it quits, ending their three year relationship, as reported by People magazine.
The relationship, like many others that are similar, eventually succumbed to the distance created by their careers. Reggie Bush is preparing for the upcoming NFL season with the New Orleans Saints, while Kim continues work on her reality series.
NEW YORK — Michael Vick was conditionally reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday and could play in regular season games as early as October.
Vick can immediately participate in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games — if he can find a team that will sign him. A number of teams have already said they would not.
“Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited,” Goodell said in a letter to Vick. “I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you and to dedicate yourself to rebuilding your life and your career. If you do this, the NFL will support you.”
Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice were inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame on yesterday.
And to no one’s surprise, Rickey Henderson stole the show.
But enough of the on-the-field accolades. Let’s talk about one of his
off-the-field accolades.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Lamar Odom soap opera has taken a new turn for the worse. According to Andrew’s and Adrian’s Report, Lamar Odom is taking Miami’s offer to heart. He’s considering leaving the Lakers for the Miami Heat.
There is no final answer to where Odom is going.
We’re working our way through the divisions in the NFL getting ready for the season. This week it’s the NFC South. Our buddy Serrated Shadow (Ben) will be on board to discuss.
Also, we start looking at the NCAA Conferences starting with Mark’s home conference, the Big XII.
Sorry Cleveland fans, but I have to do it.
After winning 66 games during the regular season, the Cavaliers were spoken extremely highly of as one of the top, if not the best, team in the NBA.
According to Anthony SanFilippo, the Philadelphia Flyers will sign free agent defenceman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen pending a physical he will take on Sunday. SanFilippo says he was told by a team source that Tollefsen would be a part of their NHL plans, and will not be playing for the Phantoms.
Tollefsen, 25, has decent size at 6′2″, 211-pounds. His problem is whether he can stay healthy or not. He missed most of last year for the Columbus Blue Jackets thanks to some chronic knee problems that require surgery. He recorded only one point in 19 games.
Let’s go!…
