Q and A With BayHawk/Baltimore Mariner Henry Scott

When Henry Scott is done tormenting opposing offensive lineman in the CFA as a Cheasapeake BayHawk, he will will be destroying opposing offensive lineman in the AIFA as a Baltimore Mariner. At 6?3? and 295lbs, this former University of Maryland DL is a force, that you don’t want to go up against. He is one of the big reasons the BayHawks are making a serious run for the CFA Championship this season.

I watched Henry Scott for a few games last season with the Baltimore Mariners arena football team. He was good, but he has gotten better. How much better? I am predicting Henry Scott, could be the most valuable player on defense in 2010 for the Baltimore Mariners. Henry Scott has been training hard, hitting the gym and basically torturing opposing teams in the CFA. I have said on the record, he is one of the top 2 players in the CFA.

During a game against the Sting(a team I cover) there was a penalty. Standing on the sideline, I could hear the players talking on the field. The BayHawks defensive players were outraged. Henry Scott said it loudly to his defense”Let them have the penalty, there not going to score anyway” and Henry Scott was right, the BayHawks would stop the Sting drive after the penalty. In the CFA he has to be double teamed, he is too fast and talented for most offensive lineman to block 1 on 1.

If the Baltimore Mariners re-sign, Henry Scott, Carson Jackson(who has to be double teamed) and (Mariner Maniacs Player of the Year) Fearon Wright for the Defensive Line, things are going to be interesting. Carson Jackson at 6?5? 350 lbs. has to be double teamed. This could leave a new and improved Henry Scott with all 1 on 1 matchups with the opposing offensive lineman. This is why I am predicting him, as a guaranteed All-Star in 2010. In the CFA he has 7 sacks, forced 2 fumbles, has 5 fumble recoveries, one of them for a TD.

I recently had a chance to interview Henry Scott and this is what he had to say…..

National Sports Review:* The BayHawks have a NFL size defensive line, you have been a force for them all season. Where do you rank the BayHawks defensive unit, compared with other defenses in the CFA?
Henry Scott:* Thats funny you say that, because being big and athletic upfront on defense was a priority for our team. We want to be the number one defense, and that starts on the line. Our defense deffiently ranks in the top of the CFA. With the talent we try to obtain as a team we should be up there.

National Sports Review:* Do you think the BayHawks have a legit chance to win it all this season?
Henry Scott:* I always like our chances to win it all. It’s all about getting to the Championship game this year. We probally have taken the regular season for granted sometimes cause we are more focused on the playoffs and the Championship. A winning season is just a given for us.

National Sports Review:* You been training hard on and off the football field. Do you think when you arrive at the Baltimore Mariners training camp, that it will be the best shape you have been in your football career?
Henry Scott:* I am deffiently in the gym more often this year. My body was a little beat up after the AIFA season. I want to try to get my Maryland days back. It’s going to be hard to get back in that type of shape with work and family, but I will be coming into Mariners camp bigger and better than last year.

National Sports Review:* What can the Baltimore Mariners fans expect from the defense this year?
Henry Scott:* I think fans can expect to see another season of dominating Defense. It’s all about chemistry, and there are alot of guys coming back. Plus I will be better personally and try to bring even more to the table.

National Sports Review:* Is there anything you would like to add? It can be on any subject, any topic that you choose.
Henry Scott:* I am really looking forward to the upcoming Mariners season. I am excited about Dewayne having ownership. I really want to cherish these last few seasons*I have to play. I am expecting my son to be born in January, and once he starts playing ball, I am going to switch my focus on him. Just one last thing….to all the Quarterbacks…you better start running cause I am coming, and when I get to you its going to be trouble! I am a truck and the license plate read DL #76!!!
