5 Must Start Fantasy Players

Darren McFadden- He had a team-high 17 carries for 68 yards last week in a losing effort against the Chargers. His longest gain went for 11 yards and he had two catches for 25 yards. In Week 2 he plays the Chiefs in Kansas City. Last year in two games against the Chiefs he put up 177 yards on 28 carries in a limited role. He should see 20 carries on Sunday and if the Raiders offensive line run block as well as they did against San Diego, McFadden should break into the secondary and rack up some huge yardage. The Chiefs defense also gave up 198 rushing yards, 501 total yards, and 38 points to a Skeptical Ravens offense.

Santonio Holmes- He has emerged as the Steelers number one receiver. Hines Ward doesn’t have the skill set he used to have and is now the number two option behind Holmes. The Steelers struggle running the ball and are counting on Roethlisberger to use his arm to carry the team this year. Holmes is a must start this week against the Bears. He should have a huge game, especially over the middle without Brian Urlacher roaming around.

Fred Jackson- He had 140 total yards against New England in Week 1. His success should carry over into Week 2 against Tampa Bay. The game is in Buffalo and Marshawn Lynch is almost done with his three game suspension. Jackson isn’t going to want to give up all his playing time when Lynch gets back, so look for him to run wild.

Clinton Portis- Portis rushed for 62 yards on 16 carries in Week 1 against the Giants. He only rushed for 60 yards or less three times last season. He should dominate the Rams and get into the end zone a few times.

Patrick Crayton- An interesting fact for Crayton is that he was targeted only six times in Week 1, but had four catches for 135 yards and a touchdown. Count on him having a huge game against the Giants on Sunday. The game is in Dallas and will showcase the new stadium. Also, corner back Aaron Ross of the Giants will not be suiting up for the second straight week. I look for Crayton to duplicate his Week 1 performance.

Five Must Sit Players

LaDainian Tomlinson- He managed only 55 yards on 13 carries last week, but did manage to get into the end zone. He suffered an ankle injury late in the game and is not 100 percent going into Week 2. Darren Sproles is expected to once again steal many of Tomlinson’s carries and receptions. The Raven’s defense is tough to run on, only allowing 29 yards on the ground in Week 1. Tomlinson is not a good option this week.

Jake Delhomme- Until he proves he can be a solid quarterback in the NFL, there is no room for him on a fantasy roster period.

Steve Smith- Again, until Delhomme proves he can play Quarterback in the NFL, or the Panthers find someone who can, sit him.

Cedric Benson- The Packers only gave up 86 yards rushing to Matt Forte and the Bears is Week 1. Benson and the Bengals will struggle on the ground against the Packers new 3-4 scheme. Benson has little fantasy value this week.

Bernard Berrian- I know the Vikings are playing the Lions, who allowed six touchdown passes in Week 1, Berrian also went without a catch against the Browns. He also has a lingering hamstring injury. Until he proves to have chemistry with Favre, sit him. It also looks like Favre isn’t ready to start opening it up down field, which is Berrian’s specialty. Don’t expect the Vikings to throw more than 25 times anyway because of the beast, Adrian Peterson.
