How did explode in sports comes about?

Explode in Sports started with the idea about three months ago when I wanted to continue to build my brand of sports writing. I wanted to manage my own blog so visitors could come and read articles and be interactive in a sports community. This is actually phase two of blogging for me as I had a previous blog entitled, “The World of Sports,” which helped get me accustomed to blogging first hand.

What are you long term and short term goals?

Long term goals for Explode in Sports are to keep building my brand and take the blog to an actual community of sports enthusiasts, much like you guys have done with Sports Jabber. If at all possible I would like to keep Explode in Sports going for as long as I can no matter what job opportunities lie ahead because I feel it allows my readers and followers to get to know me on a more personal level. Short term goals are to just keep writing and spreading my knowledge of the subjects I write on. Keep posting and commenting on other sites to gain readership, as well as keep working with you guys at Sports Jabber.

How long have you been writing/blogging?

I have been blogging for approximately a year now and I have done work with a local newspaper. In high school I was a sports intern and my duties were covering high school football, basketball and baseball games. I learned the art of stat taking and breaking down those numbers and game changing moments to create a story for readers.

Quote from your site: “Motivation, Leadership, Hardwork and Determination: These four very powerful words describe the business and purpose of explodeinsports.com.” You work very hard. What sets your blog apart?

I feel that my blog is set apart because I want readers to feel comfortable. I do not just want to process stats that people can get at any other sports site such as ESPN or watching the television. My goal is to provide stories and insight that can make fans think and perhaps relate a story to their sports journey as well. Whether you are a coach, fan, player or parent, I want to help motivate you to stay positive in your sports niche.

You have a broad range of interests….you have the ability to write about anything and everything and make it fun. What is YOUR favorite sport?

NFL Football is certainly my number one sport, but I love basketball: NCAA more than NBA but I follow both. I also follow golf and baseball.

How do you see the Giants doing this year?

I see the Giants finishing in a race for the NFC East this season. As long as Eli can stay consistent and limit turnovers, the offense should take care of itself. Defensively I love the Giants with Osi back and a few good pick ups we had this off season like Michael Boley at line backer and Rocky Bernard to beef up the middle of the line. Super Bowl is a little stretch, but they should be in the mix for the playoffs at the end of the season.

You are working on your degree in communications…what is YOUR dream job?

Following in the steps of Ray-Ray would be ideal and landing a job or internship with ESPN or any major sports publication. Fox Sports, Fox College Sports are also pretty great options. If those options do not come my way, I hope to keep building my sports brand through Explode in Sports and possibly make this a career opportunity to lean on. I feel Explode in Sports gives my readers to get to know me on a personal level and feel comfortable reading my material. Building rapport is an important element to me as I move forward.

Who is your favorite and least favorite announcer?

My favorite announcer would have to be Bill Raftery in college hoops. His one liners through the game make it worth listening to and keep you excited about the action. “Get the puppies set,” and “Takes it to the tin,” are my favorite lines. The worst announcer that I really do not like listening to is Joe Buck. Something about him just turns me off to games and makes me want to mute the television and just watch the action ha!

You are a part of our SJ community and we’re glad to have you. What is something we may not know about you…..?

Hmm… this is tough.. Well I do like to read. Not so much different fiction series’, but motivational books and business related things. My two favorite books I read this summer were, “Tribes,” by Seth Godin and “Lead or Get Off the Pot,” by former Sixers president, Pat Croce

Thanks for doing this Brian….looking forward to a long future with explode in sports and I encourage everyone to go check Brian out…Let’s support our writers, they are a special asset. Check out his blog. He just put an article up so when you see that “SJ Exclusive and his name…give him a read.” Someday he could be famous ;-)
