NBA Season Officially Underway

Tonight marks the start of another journey in the world of NBA basketball. Opening night featured the Cleveland Cavaliers playing host to the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are regarded by many to return and win the NBA Finals this season. Against LeBron James and the Cavs, they proved they are indeed on a mission with a 95-89 victory on the road. The late game televised on TNT nationally is the defending champion Lakers playing host to the Clippers in a match up of Western Conference teams who share the same arena. The Clippers however, will be without number one draft pick Blake Griffin for some time due to a stress fracture in the patella. So fans, your glimpse of this highly touted and exciting rookie will be put on hold.
As I sit here streaming NBA League pass on the computer, because I am an absolute basketball fan, the Washington Wizards are back. That’s right, mark my words that they will provide problems for teams in the East. Gilbert Arenas, also known as “Hibatchi,” or “Agent Zero,” is having an impressive debut after coming back from ailing knee injuries. He is quick with the ball and seems non-hesitant on his way to the basket. His pull up jump shot is on point and through three quarters has 21 points and seven assists. Not only do I like Washington due to the return of Arenas, but they also added Mike Miller in the off season who has a habit of knocking down the three ball and is a pretty solid rebounder as well. Along with Miller, the addition of guard Randy Foye to the roster has added more speed and shiftiness at the position. Along side Arenas, Caron Butler, Miller and when healthy, Antawn Jamison, this roster has the ability to put up serious numbers. Not to mention the production down low tonight from Andre Blatche who has found his comfort zone in the mid-range jumper realm.
My point being here is not to count out the Washington, D.C. group as the season gets underway. Now, can I predict the future and say everyone will stay healthy throughout? No. But as of now I am impressed with this team and so should you.
