“No Good Fight Goes Unwritten”

I met Mike a few days ago on Twitter, and we got to talking. I want to start out by saying his blog is really something special and we’re lucky to have him here.

His blog is being fed into our new Boxing Forum…and keep an eye there, some special things happening there, besides Mike, the upcoming Buster Douglas does SJ interview. He’s got some questions for you down there now already.

We believe Boxing has a niche in SJ’s Future. Also when you check out his blog check out the unique boxing artwork. I will feature a few etchings here. So onto his interview…… check out his blog..and welcome him into the SJ family like only Jabberheads can..

Where did the idea for your blog come from?

I thought of it when I lost my job in February. I created the blog in May. People tell me all the time I remind them of Max Kellerman. Someone suggested to me that I record a video of myself and post it on You Tube. I thought of writing on my own website, but it costs to much money to start one. Starting a blog is free. So, here we are. I was working in Marketing in NYC in the fashion industry. I always wanted a job in sports. I thought creating the blog about a sport I’ve followed since I was a kid would help me, since I don’t have experience in the sports industry. I know so much about sports, but could never get an opportunity to crack into that field. I feel the blog will help me and as well as the exposure on this great site! You can never go wrong if you write about what you know.

How long have you been following boxing?

Since Ray Leonard defeated Donny Lalonde and Mike Tyson beat Frank Bruno in their first fight. 7 - 8 years old.

Favorite boxer of all time?

Mike Tyson

Most memorable match of all time?

Frazier-Ali 1

Tell us a little bit about the boxing artwork on your blog?

My ex-girlfriend’s father is a master pastel artist and I wanted to feature his work on my blog. His paintings are featured in books such as Best of Oil I & II. He loves boxing and painted all of them. We always talk about upcoming and past fights. A lot of my knowledge from the past about the sport comes from the era he lived through. We complement each other on the past and present. Some pieces are in museums, his house, friends have them….She and her family remain close to me.

Your blog has a little of everything. Rankings, articles, previews, it’s really well done. How does the novice sports fan here learn a little more about the sport?

Well, I try my best to be clear and concise when I write my articles. Obviously, I target boxing fans, but I also target and try to write to an audience that may never have followed the sport. Whether they follow boxing or not, I want people to understand and follow what I am saying. That way, he or she could possibly become intrigued and become a fan of the sport. I am objective and ALWAYS write about what I know. I’ll never write something that I don’t know about or try and say an opinion without backing it up.

Axl Rose once said that he tries to write his songs in a way that all people can relate in some way to what he is saying from his/her experiences. I try my best to do that. I use that as an inspiration.

What other hobbies/interests for you have?

I have a collection of fights that date back to the early 1900’s. I may have over 2,600 recorded boxing fights. I am an avid Oakland Raiders and New York Rangers fan too.

Again Mike it’s been fun and I humbly thank you.
