Cowboys 24, Giants 31: December Comes Slamming Down On Cowboys

In a game that the Cowboys could put away a team’s playoffs throat, they didn’t even put a hand on the throat of the Giants. The Giants took advantage of a Marion Barber fumble before halftime to take the momentum away, and came out to win the game, 31-24.

I am not going to throw statistics at you or numbers, but the Cowboys were outcoached, outplayed, out (anything) this whole game, even when they had the lead 10-0. Does this team not realize that you have to match the other team’s level of intensity?

I still love this team, and it hurts me to see them just allow other teams to stay in the fight. Does this team not have heart? Desire? Or the willingness to do what it takes to come out with a win? I am seriously doubting that right now.

They could have put this team away early in the first half by making a field goal, or even better a touchdown. That would have made it 13-0 or 17-0.

Special Teams Failure

Nick Folk used to be money when it came to field goals. The 57 yard FG I can forgive, but to keep missing those that he normally makes, I can’t.

The Cowboys have been great all season covering punts, but all of a sudden they can’t tackle and let one go 79 yards for a touchdown?? Are you afraid to get hurt hitting in the cold weather??? Are you kidding me??

Nice return by Felix Jones nullified by a holding penalty??

Offensive Failure

Tony Romo can not be blamed in this loss. I felt he played pretty good. Roy Williams actually caught two touchdown passes. Romo didn’t exactly have a lot of time. He was pressured pretty good tonight.

The fault was the offensive line, our mammoth offensive line, you know, the ones so big that they should be able to push the other team around? They are the REAL problem every December. They can’t run block or protect Romo in the month of December. The running backs couldn’t get anything done, so the Cowboys became one dimensional.

Defensive Failure

Steve Smith was all over the place, where was the defender? How can Brandon Jacobs go 74 yards for a touchdown reception? I can’t figure out why Spencer was so concerned about chipping the tight end and allow Jacobs to be open, but no defender was able to catch him?? Granted #84 of the Giants held Sensabaugh.

Coaching Failure

This coaching staff does not know how to motivate these players, because obviously the players are not motivated enough. Bill Parcells couldn’t do it, Wade Phillips can’t do it, so who can? The Cowboys had the same problems when Big Bill was here too.

Jason Garrett’s play calling can be super genius at times but can be dumb and dumber as well. He was somewhere in between today, but closer to the dumb and dumber. In the Razorback, why run the same play all the time? They need to do other things with it as well. Garrett seems to stick too much to the plan and doesn’t make changes to adjust with what’s happening in the game.

I think the biggest failure is the coaching, but the players have a lot of responsibility as well.

If any game balls go out, it would be Witten and Ratlif
