Three Trojans tagged for Senior Bowl roster

Taylor Mays, Anthony McCoy, and Charles Brown will begin their NFL auditions as members of the 2010 Senior Bowl roster. The game played in Mobile Alabama on January 30th is the climax of week long events, which allow participants to be evaluated by representatives of all 32 NFL franchises that congregate in search of talent.

The acceptance of the invite by All American Safety Taylor Mays would indicate that he is aware or has been informed of a potential drop in stock from a year ago. Historically, many players with high projections have skipped the event. That list includes quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Matt Ryan, as well as defensive Tackle Glenn Dorsey.

Where’s Stafon Johnson? This year’s comeback kid was given clearance to resume workouts after his tragic weightlifting accident. His goal was to strengthen himself both physically and mentally in preparation for the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. As of right now, he is not a member of the roster, which makes it very probable that he didn’t receive an invitation.

The Senior Bowl has assisted in propelling many college athletes into the earliest round of the NFL draft, including Trojans Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews, who were first round selections a year ago.
