Huston Street and the Colorado Rockies finalized their three-year, $22.5 million contract negotiations Wednesday. The deal could be worth up to $31 million over four seasons, including a $9 million option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout if the club decides they can do better.

We want to stay together,” he said. “Everybody believes in what we’ve got going here. We’ve got a good thing going here.”

Street said he feels “great” and is pumped to be the anchor of the Rockies bullpen. He says the guys on the team are the reason he signed, and that they have an abundance of “chemistry and camaraderie.”

The 26-year-old closer missed out on the final month of the regular season with sore pipes, but claims that had nothing to do with his giant postseason failure. Street went 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA and a blown save in three 2009 postseason appearances, crushing his club’s Rocktober dreams.

After spending his first four big leagues seasons with the Oakland Athletics, the right-hander was traded to the Rockies along with outfielder Carlos González and lefty Greg Smith for Matt Holliday… who is enjoying being filthy rich in St. Louis these days. That worked out pretty well for Oakland.

Street went 4-1 with a .306 ERA last season for Colorado, converting 35 of 37 save opportunities. The right-hander struck out 70 batters and walked 13 over 61.2 innings. Not bad.
