Peyton Manning no longer a top 10 QB all time?

What do you think of when you think of Peyton now? It’s sure as hell not greatest of all time, and for me, it’s not even top 10. The guy has been a nobody in the playoffs through his career. 9-9 overall, which should already take him out of the discussion for greatest of all time, he choked when his team needed him most, and he rode his defense and running game for his only superbowl title.

I don’t think you can consider him with the likes of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Steve Young, John Elway, etc, etc, anymore. The guys that are clutch and come through when their team needs them are who I consider the greatest of all time. Peyton Manning doesn’t fit in to that mold, he’s been a guy who just puts up amazing stats in the regular season but fails when his team needs him in the playoffs his whole career.

I’m not even sure if I’d take him over the likes of Kurt Warner, Johnny Unitas, Troy Aikman, and others who came through when their teams needed them in the playoffs.

Tonight isn’t the only reason I’m posting this, as I’ve been thinking this for quite a while, and tonight just solidified it, and gave me the full proof that I needed.

A 9-9 record in the playoffs, and most of the wins coming from him riding his defense in his superbowl season, doesn’t cut it for me. He’s been dropped from my top 10.
