Oregon boots Jamere Holland for Facebook activity

The Ducks start the new week with a continuation of bad press to add to the existing. The Pac 10 champions gained national recognition for recent on-field success, but have undesirably remained in the headlines with off field disorder. Jamere Holland becomes the newest addition to press clippings, after the University announced today that the receiver has been bounced from the squad for “violating team rules”. The violation isn’t specific, but may have something to do with Facebook activity that included a racist post.
Holland added a Facebook comment that displayed his resentment for a decision to dismiss teammate Kiko Alonso from the program for a DUI citation received early Saturday morning. But Sports By Brooks revealed another posting which shows Holland resorting to the use of racism to amplify his frustration over his social networking account being watched by sources “misunderstanding” his personal rants.
“Chilln thinking of another status to fuck with readers heads, I wish I could block whites as friends and only have blacks LOL, cause apparently I’m misunderstood.”
The Holland outburst could be considered petty, as it’s just one young man speaking his mind and giving “watchers” a reason to screech, but it was a bad move for a player with little production, academic struggles, and already rumored to be on his way out. He just made it easier for Chip Kelly to pull the plug.
Holland began his college football career at USC. Oregon running back LaMichael James was arrested last week on charges of domestic violence.
