Cowboys And Free Agency

The NFL free agency started Friday 12:01 AM and so far the everything seems to be quiet for the Dallas Cowboys. They haven’t even made a pin drop of a sound of doing anything in free agency. Is that good or bad? I believe it is good, the Cowboys do not need another high priced player on their roster.

I thought they would make a move for Antrel Rolle to put in the Free Safety position and let Ken Hamlin go. They didn’t make it and the New York Giants made him the highest paid safety in the NFL. Was he really worth all that? If he was looking for that kind of money, I don’t really think he was worth that.

There have been no moves so far on any of the Cowboys free agents, except that some teams have expressed interest in Gerald Sensabaugh. The Cowboys put a second round tender on him, but that doesn’t seem enough to scare some interest. Will the Cowboys match an offer? They did express interest in a offering a longer contract to him. My concern is that a team would place a poison pill in the contract.

Jerry Jones has said that he wants his players scared of the thought they could be replaced, but that to seems like an empty threat so far. He stated there could be 10-11 new players on the roster. Is he talking new players or different starters?

The Cowboys don’t need a lot to improve this team. We need a better free safety, offensive lineman and depth, and defensive line depth.

I know football season doesn’t start until September, but I am ready for some football!! The Cowboys will play an extra preseason game as they will play in the Hall of Fame Game against the Cincinnati Bengals on August 8th. Their training camp will open July 24th in preparation for that game and the season.

Go Cowboys!!
