Arenas’ sentence: 30 days in a halfway house

The Gilbert Arenas(notes) gun saga is nearing its end. Three days after a scathing — that’s right, scathing — sentencing memo detailing Arenas’ conduct was delivered to courts, Arenas has been sentenced.
What’s the damage, Associated Press?
A judge has ordered suspended Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas to spend 30 days in a halfway house on gun charges stemming from a locker-room confrontation with a teammate.
It’s a compromise between prosecutors seeking three months of jail time, and the defenses opinion that Arenas should serve no jail time. According to FanHouse’s A.J. Perez, Arenas will be required to serve 400 hours of community service, donate $5,000 to a victims fund, and register as a gun offender in D.C. He’ll also serve two years of probation.
Three months, hundreds of blog posts, and even more jokes about finger guns and this whole thing is finally (almost) over. It’s been a long, strange trip.
