As the spring comes to an end, anticipation for the new MLB season grows stronger and stronger. With less than 2 days left until the season officially begins, I want to take the time to dive into some of the positives that have come out of the 2010 spring training. The Dbacks (15-17) started off slow but they pulled it together to have a solid preseason. Here are my 3 positives to smile about heading into the 2010 season.

1. Securing our future:

Signing 22 year old Justin Upton to a 6 year $51 million contract was the first step for the Diamondbacks to start making important moves for the future. Securing Mark Reynolds as a powerful weapon to support Upton and adding Ian Kennedy to the pitching rotation hopefully will bring many wins this year and many years to come.

1. Pitching Prospects

The spring showed us that we were in dire need of some pitching strength. With Brandon Webb injured and his return still a relative mystery to most of us, spring training helped the Dbacks find a few more arms to lean on (no pun intended). As mentioned before we signed Ian Kennedy who showed a glimpse of what I hope can turn into a very beneficial pick up for the Dbacks. Rodrigo Lopez also played some solid baseball that tossed his name into the rotation late during spring training.

1. The Fans

I have to say this as a fan of baseball I enjoyed seeing the incredible turn out to every spring game this year. The wall to wall crowd that poured into Tucson Electric Park last week for the cities final spring game was incredible to say the least. I hope the never ending fan support sparks the Dback players into a great season and with the NL West being so wide open I think we have a shot to make a push for a division title. Hey, as a fan you have to dream big. Let the Season Begin!!
