Suns/Spurs the Rivalry and Beyond

May 18th, 2007
The day i will never forget. It is the day that will forever haunt me and has driven me into insanity (more than i already was).
From Steve Nash’s broken nose in game 1 that led to him going to bench during the crucial moments that ended up being a loss, to the injustice of the suspensions for game 5 and beyond. I’m going to tell you why I hate the Spurs, the city of San Antonio, and all their fans more than i could ever love anything.
It started out with what looked as a normal playoff series between the 2nd seeded Suns vs. the 3rd seeded Spurs in the second round of the playoffs. No matter the seedings or records, the Spurs were the favorites to win that series for a lot of people. And all the talk before this series and during game 1 was how “classy” the Spurs team was. And how they play “perfect” basketball. That all changed QUICK after game 1. Where Bruce Bowen kicked Amare stoudemire in his heel, the same heel he had surgery on the season before. An injury not many come back from, let alone at a high level.
A clearly Dirty move that wasn’t caught by the officials. So much for “classy”. We all knew of Bruce Bowen’s past of kicking players and doing everything that isn’t “classy” at all. We all knew he was a Dirty player long before this series. But this took things to a whole nother level.
Now let me jump to the most horribly officiated game i have EVER seen in my ENTIRE life. Game 3 of the series, yes, the TIM DONAGHY officiated game. This was horrible, non calls after non calls, and the only calls were the one’s that went San Antonio’s way. And now we all know why, because Tim Donaghy fixed all his games for gambling! As if it wasn’t enough that the Spurs were playing Dirty and getting away with it, this made things worse, and practically handed the game away to San Antonio.
And on to the game most people talked about, game 4 of the series. The one where the Suns got screwed over after. Once again, Bruce Bowen knees Nash in the groin ON PURPOSE. Where’s the Suspension? THERE WASN’T ANY!!
But of course When “Cheap Shot” Robert Horry tackled Nash into the scorers table, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw stepped off the bench and onto the court to help their teammate Steve Nash, And of course they were suspended for game 5. While that Dirty Bastard Horry got suspended for 2 games.
And you know what, i’m all for what is right, obviously if i’m discussing this, and the Rules do state that Any player who steps off the bench during an altercation should be suspended. As much as it hurts, that’s fine they broke the rules. But Here’s where i get PISSED OFF!! If “Rules are Rules” as Commissioner David Stern said, then why weren’t Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen Suspended????
Confused?, not many people noticed this, but during game 4 Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen stepped off the bench early during the game, then later went to sit back down before they could be caught by the officials. Now where is the justice!???? NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!
There were many times where you can say Bruce Bowen should have been Suspended, especially after that knee to Nash’s groin which was the most noticable but he lucked out every damn time. Which is why i put the blame on that RETARD of a Commissioner David “I love the Spurs” Stern. He makes me sick to my damn stomach!
Back to the Suspensions, forget about Boris Diaw, he sucked anyways. ( i still can’t get over his 1 point game performance) But after Losing Stoudemire for game 5, it all went down hill. The Suns had a lead in that game and lost it late in the game. And even though at the time i refused to believe it, it was as good as over for the Suns becuase they had to go back to San Antonio with their backs against the wall. And sure enough, they did end up losing that game, ending the series. On May 18th, 2007….
And that drove me insanely balistic! I remember it perfectly like it was yesterday….
I went to school the day after and fought with everybody that i saw. Surprisingly i didn’t get suspended that day because i was HEATED and fought with everyone and broke everything in my damn way. My friend’s would tell me to calm down and i’d tell them to Fuck off and a bunch of other crap. I was extremely pissed and ’till this day no one but me knows the real reason why. And that pisses me off even more, probably second most.
The Dirty Cheating Bastards Spurs ended up beating the Jazz to go to the NBA Finals, and swept the Cavs to become Champions. And this is why i say that the Phoenix Suns were robbed of their Championship, because they were cheated of that series, and if it hadn’t been for all that bullshit, they would have been the Champions! They would have beat the Jazz easily, and would have easily destroyed the one man team of the Cavaliers.
You know, right after that Suns/Spurs series while i was enraged, it hit me that people aren’t going to care, no justice will ever be done, and that no one will even remember or care a year later. And that got me EVEN MORE MAD! And as i sit here writting all this, i’m getting angrier because I was right wasn’t I?
Tim Donaghy was caught, but there were no asteriks for the Spurs Championship were there? And as the years went by people remembered less and right now how many of you even cared at the time that it happened?
(And please don’t reply to this thread with something about the Patriots and spygate. Yes, they cheated with that aswell, and i don’t condone any form of cheating, and i’m all for what’s right and justice, but this is completely different, another subject for another day. And plus, there is actuall proof of cheating and this, is worse than what the Patriots did.)
And till this day, no one but me knows why this pisses me off so much. No matter how many times i have said it, no one seems to listen or care or remember. Not even my closest friends. Which is why i’ve come to the conclusion a long time ago that No one will ever understand, this is something that i will take to my grave.
You see, most people think i hate the Spurs so much becuase they “beat” us. WRONG! I’ve said it a million times before and i’ll say it again, i’m fine losing fair and square, but what happened in that series was Anything but fair. It was injust!
The other thing people tell me is that i should chill out because “It’s just a game” WRONG! You see, if they would have won fair and square then yeah, it’s just a game. But now when you mess with Morals and when a Referee goes to jail for gambling and fixing games…ect. Then it becomes personal.
I have no shame nor am i afraid to say that if i ever see any of the Players, coaches…ect of that 2007 Spurs team in person, i will literally kill them on the spot! And not only that, but i would turn myself in too, just so that everyone knows that I did it, and I fought for what i believed in.
No one will ever understand, that my passion for hating that team can’t be matched with anything ever. I hate them and their fans and that damn city more than ANYTHING and anything that i could ever have a passion for. Wether it be Love or Hate.
And that’s another thing, their stupid fans, i can’t respect a fan that cheers on a bunch of Dirty Cheating Bastards. If there are any Spurs fans on this forum, you have to know that i’m not directing this at any of you, but do know that if we were in person i would never talk to you. As messed up as i sound right now, it’s the truth. But anyways, this isn’t about the fans, it’s about that DIRTY team.
And to close this out, i’d like to add that there is nothing more that i would want other than having the Suns whoop their asses in the playoffs, whatever round i don’t care. And people call me crazy for many reasons, but to me i’d rather have that happen than the Suns winning a Championship. Now of course if the Suns beat the Spurs and then win a Championship would be even better but just knocking out San Antonio would be MY Championship. Yet again i don’t think that just beating them would bring any justice. Not until something is done about THAT playoff series will there ever be justice. And I know that it will never happen. It’s been what 3 years? Nothing will ever be done about it. But i really do hope the Suns play the Spurs in the playoffs this season. I’m so hoping for that first round matchup. But until then, we have 1 more game to settle on Wednesday in San Antonio. LET’S GET SOME REVENGE!!!!
