Can hockey save Chicago?

There really should be more hope for Chicago as a sports town.
The Cubs are under new ownership, the Bears finally have a real quarterback and this week’s SI Players NHL Poll favors the Blackhawks in the Western Conference playoffs this year.
BUT…
Bulls’ management is fighting over Joakim Noah like shrinks fought over Will Hunting’s free time (Dated movie reference – deal with it). On the verge of the playoffs, the Bulls are on the verge of a leadership meltdown. Reports indicate coach Vinny Del Negro and general manager John Paxson engaged in a physical altercation March 30. Doesn’t sound like the kind of chest-bumping that results at the end of a pregame intro line.
  • The Sox won the World Series in 2005, but it might as well have been as long ago as the Cubs last championship. There’s absolutely zero momentum left from that season. And this campaign began with manager Ozzie Guillen somewhat controversially entering Twitterverse and getting in the middle of his son Oney’s awkward resignation. Obviously, the Guillens haven’t watched The Godfather. (We don’t discuss business at the table. Let alone with the free world, right?) Their attempts to enter the digital world have backfired.
  • DePaul hired a men’s basketball coach that nobody’s ever heard of, at least not come NCAA tournament time. The Big East’s doormat … am I really talking about DePaul?
