G-Men’s Athlete of the Week(5/24-5/31)

In the past week, alot has been decided. We now know who will play for the NBA Championship and Stanley Cup. As well as playoff action in the NBA and NHL, baseball has had another week of good baseball action.
Before we get to our nominees, I would like to take the time on this Veterans Day to thank everyone who has served for our country. Words cannot express how much appreciation we have of you and how great you are for our country.
Now, here are the nominees:
Kobe Bryant
Our reigning Athlete of the Week, Kobe Bryant put on another spectacular performance to lead his team to their third straight finals appearance and another showdown with the Boston Celtics.
Paul Pierce
While Paul Pierce has been another part of the shocking finals run from the Celtics, he stood out the most from the rest of his team this week and helped book himself and the Celtics another showdown with the Lakers.
Albert Pujols
Albert Pujols has struggled a bit in past weeks, but this week he showed that he is back. Pujols smashed three home runs against the Chicago Cubs and a total of four this week.
Roy Halladay
This MLB season has been one to remember already to this point. A second perfect game was thrown this week and this time it was by Roy Halladay, becoming only the 4th pitcher in MLB history to throw a perfect game and win a Cy Young.
Ubaldo Jiminez
After today, Ubaldo Jiminez improved his record to 10-1 by outdueling Tim Lincecum in a 4-0 complete game shutout win. This gives Jiminez his second shutout of the week.
Now that we have evaluated the candidates, the winner of the Athlete of the Week(5/24-5/31) is Roy Halladay.
For me it was a close decision between him and Jiminez but I couldn’t go against Halladay who threw a perfect game.
With all that goes on in the week of sports, it’s very possible that I missed somebody. If you think I missed someone or even have suggestions for next weeks player when the time comes, please feel free
