The topic of a draft day trade seems to appear as often as Elton Brand on the injured list, but unlike Brand’s consistent knack of injuring himself, a draft day trade is much more of an unexpected wonder. Now don’t get me wrong, draft day trades have been occurring at a more frequent rate in the draft’s recent history, and the Sixers have been a part of that as well (in 2007, the Sixers traded Daequan Cook for the draft rights of Jason Smith). Now that the Sixers are in control of a prized possession which can ultimately guarantee a team a future star such as Evan Turner or Derrick Favors, the possibility of trading away their pick isn’t at all a crazy idea.
