DeSean Jackson’s Absence From OTA’s Related To Family Issues

A direct source claims Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jacksons made the decision to skip organized team activities this week due to a personal issue with the family–not because of the current contract situation with the organization.
Numerous stories across the internet have questioned whether or not Jacksons decision to skip OTAs has to do with his desire for a contract extension with the Eagles. Over the last few weeks, the Pro Bowl wideout has been a popular topic in the media because of his contract situation with Philadelphia. He has two years remaining on his rookie deal and is expected to earn a combined $805,000 in 2010. However, the source close to DeSean claims his absence isn’t contract related, just a family issue that needs to be addressed.
Jackson is coming off his second season with Philadelphia in which he became the first player in NFL history to reach the Pro Bowl as both a wide receiver and kick returner. He’s coming off a 2010 season in which he finished with 62 receptions for 1,156 yards and nine touchdowns.
