With the All Star game coming up next week, it’s time for SJ to swing into All Star Game gear. And to go with that we have SJ All Star Game Trivia.

Below I have a list of 10 All Star related questions. If you want to take part in this trivia answer the questions and PM THEM TO ME. Do not post them in this thread. (If you are new to SJ, just take a few quick minutes to register and then you will be on your way.)

The winner of the contest will receive a copy of the book “A Glove of Their own”

Here’s a premise of the book:

Quote:
This story is for the kids who toss the bat to choose captains and pick teams, playing in a neighborhood field or an empty lot. You’ll find no coaches, no concession stands, and sometimes just an old bat and ball. But once the first pitch is thrown, you’ll find the real heart and soul of America. You’ll find baseball in its purest form. And if you look a little closer, you’ll find something more. Millions of children, here and abroad, do not experience the joy of playing sports with friends for lack of equipment and this book not only shines a spotlight on the situation, but a portion of all proceeds is donated to three non-profit organizations, Pitch In For Baseball, Sports Gift, and Good Sports, that provide sports equipment to kids who would otherwise go without. Endorsed by professional baseball players, Jack Hannahan, Robb Quinlan, Sean Casey, and future hall-of-famer, Craig Biggio, and teamed up with Louisville Slugger, Rawlings, and Modell’s Sporting Goods, this title will help ensure that all kids have a glove of their own.

Good prize guys, everybody should get in on this. And here’s the questions:

Quote:
1. The All Star Game was canceled once in MLB history. In what year did this happen?

2. The longest All Star Game in MLB history has happened twice. Once in Anaheim in 1967 and again in Yankee Stadium in 2008. How many innings were these games?

3. Who is the only player in MLB history to win the All Star Game MVP and World Series MVP in the same season?

4. When was the first All Star game played at night?

5. Which team, NL or AL holds the All Time series record?

6. In what year did Major League baseball start giving home field advantage to the winner of the All Star Game?

7. What is the name of the award given to the All Star Game MVP?

8. In 1991, who became the first player to win the Home Run Derby, All Star Game MVP and AL MVP awards?

9. Four players have won the All Star Game MVP twice. Name one of them.

10. Who is the only player in All Star Game history to hit an inside the park homerun?

Once again, everybody have fun with this and no cheating and using google.
