One of the darkest moments in Cleveland history, along side of the Lake catching on fire, the Indians losing the World Series to the Braves cuz of Jose frickin Mesa, was Modell high-tailing it to Baltimore.

Fans will never forgive him. But very recently, this week, one man did.  Bernie Kosar.
For anyone that doesn’t know Bernie was cut in the middle of the 93 season by Bill Belichick. Bill thought Vinny Testaverde was ready to be starter, cut Bernie, and found out Vinny was out with a shoulder separation.

And Modell allowed it.

After all these years, Bernie needed to see Art Modell. Perhaps for closure, perhaps it was just the right thing to do in the right time. Modell isn’t doing too well right now. He is 85 years old and spends most of his time in wheel chair. Once the most hated man in Cleveland, he’s had two heart surgeries, two strokes. Who knows how much time he has left?

He knows Cleveland will never forgive him. He says still it’s because the politicians betrayed him.

Bernie said life is too short. That he had to. He was called to.

Is it too short in the life of a football fan? Is the statute of limitations over in the dog pound?
