I have never been much of a basketball fan, but these two names I know and know well.

They were inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame on Friday, both for their individual efforts and their dream team accomplishments.

Scottie Pippen was MJ’s sidekick. I think people forget how truly effortless he made it all look. And what a consummate team player he must have been to always seem to be in Michael’s shadow. He praised Michael Jordan in his speech as the best teammate ever. I think the reverse can be said easily. He was so much more. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team
8 times. Phil Jackson once called him a “one man wrecking crew.”

Karl Malone, the mailman. A name he got in college for his consistency.
He his first 18 seasons with the Jazz and his own sidekick in that of John Stockton. People say he is one of the best power forwards in the history of the game. He scored 36,928 points (25.0 per game), second-best all-time, on .516 shooting.

Sometimes as far as hall of fames go, on sports boards we debate the inductees, do they deserve it, did someone deserve it more, was someone else passed up yet again, but in this case I think everyone would agree, these two men are taking their rightful places in history. Salute
