Packers Bruise Jets in Sloppy 9-0 Victory

Mark Sanchez struggled in the Jets loss. He was 16-of-38 for 256 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. This results in a 43.3 rating. Yikes!
It was not a good game at all for the New York Jets. It was a sloppy and ugly game by them, even for the Green Bay Packers as well. But the Pack survived, topping the Jets in a 9-0 victory. With this, Green Bay improves to 5-3 while New York falls to 5-2.
“I wish we could play it again, do it over,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “But there are no do-overs in this league.”
This loss was even more since it was at home in the Meadowlands.
“It felt embarrassing to be shut out at home,” right tackle Damien Woody said. “Our personnel and our coaching staff is too good for us to be shut out at home.”
LaDainian Tomlinson was the only bright light in the game, as he joined the list of the only running backs to rush for 13,000 yards and have over 4,000 receiving yards, reaching the milestone today. Other than that, the whole game was just downright ugly for New York.
Mark Sanchez had the worst of it, being sacked multiple times along with going 16-of-38 for 256 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. This would result in a 43.3 rating. Before this game, Sanchez had a solid rating and had nine touchdowns and two interceptions.
This was the first time the Jets got shut-out since losing to the Chicago Bears, 10-0, in the 2006-07 season.
The Packers, entering the game as the non-favorites, prove the naysayers wrong and showed they could still be the best team in the NFC as fans anticipated before the season started.
“We love to be underdogs,” Packers safety Nick Collins said. “Everybody thinks the Jets are the team to win the Super Bowl. We wanted to come in here and match their intensity and show them that we can play with anybody.”
The Packers proved that, mostly be their very underrated defense. The offense could only pile on field goals as Aaron Rodgers struggled, going 15-of-34 for 170 yards and with a 59.7 rating. Rodgers better give a huge hat-tip to the defense.
“We wanted to come in here and prove to everybody what we’re all about,” linebacker Clay Matthews said. “We’ve had a few close losses that we thought we should have won. We let our play do our talking.”
Green Bay will face the struggling the Dallas Cowboys next on Sunday Night. The Cowboys are recently coming off a 35-17 blowout loss to the Jackonsville Jaguars today. Ouch.
