Next Week’s Big NCAA Games

I could go on forever if I included all the rivalries like USC-Notre Dame, Ohio State-Michigan, so I won’t. I will just stick to the games of importance from a BCS and Conference Championship proseptive:

Thursday:

Texas A&M at Texas. This Turkey Night game is important because Texas must win this game to become bowl eligable. This rivalry just took on a lot more importance.

Friday:

West Virginia at Pitt: The winner of this game probably wins the crazy Big East. Pitt only has one loss. I really am not sure what happens if West Virgina wins this game.

Auburn at Alabama. A BCS Championship game bid is on the line for Auburn here. The Capital One Bowl for Alabama.

Colorado at Nebraska: Nebraska needs a win to go to the Big 12 Championship game.

Boise State at Nevada. A win here and Boise State should leapfrog them past TCU into the #3, or 2 spot, depending on what happened that afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

Saturday:

Northwestern at Wisconsin. A Badger win should wrap up a Rose Bowl trip.

North Carolina State at Maryland. A North Carolina State win sends them into the ACC Championship game against Virginia Tech. A loss sends Florida State to the Championship game.

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State. The winner wins the Big 12 South and advances to the last Big 12 Championship game.

In addition, there are numerous games involving teams hoping to keep their bowlhopes alive, including every Pac 10 game except Notre Dame at USC, which is rivalry enough. Georgia must defeat rival Ga. Tech to become bowl eligable.
