MrTxStar Weighs in on the Packers/Eagles Game

First let’s set the scene: Lincoln Financial Field , 9 January 2011 at 3:30 CST on FOX, 6th seed Green Bay Packers versus 3rd seed Phildelphia Eagles.
For one of these teams, this season will end with the same opponent it started. In the first week matchup, the visiting team Packers won with the margin of a single TD, 27-20. First year Philly starting QB Kevin Kolb came into the game having won that job over Michael Vick during training camp.
Little did anyone know, the game would end with Kolb knocked out of the game and Vick impressing his head coach enough to keep the #1 QB slot for the balance of the season. Vick’s performance of just over two quarters resulted in 175 passing yards, 103 rushing yards and a QB rating of 101.9. In the end, almost bringing the Eagles back from a 17 point deficit, Vick fell short of the comeback victory.
Now, four months later these two meet again. With both teams offenses among the NFC elite, I expect a shoot out however, the respective defenses might have something to say about that. The 21st league ranked scoring defense belongs to the Eagles while the Packers defense ranks 2nd in the league. Led by linebacker Clay Matthews, the Packers defencs may be the winning deference for the visiting Packers. Matthews tallied 3 sacks in the first match up and is looking to repeat that performance.
Although a bit on the fence on this match up, I think the formidable Packer defense will find a way to bottle up Michael Vick. I’m picking the Packers to edge out the NFC East Champion Eagles 34-31 in a battle that we won’t soon forget.
