Memphis Grizzlies: Has Sam Young’s Recent Emergence Made O.J. Mayo Expendable?

Sam Young has certainly made the most of his increased playing time in the recent absence of O.J. Mayo while he is serving his 10-game suspension for taking a banned substance.
In fact, Young has played so well in recent weeks, it seems like the Grizzlies may be more inclined than ever to end the troubled tenure of Mayo in Memphis before the trade deadline.
During the first nine games of Mayo’s suspension, Young has posted the following point totals while starting each game: 12-10-10-18-19-7-22-14-19. Those aren’t bad numbers at all, and his overall improved level play has been a large factor behind the improved play of the Grizzlies lately.
