Ohio State’s Tressel Hires an Attorney

Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel has hired an attorney. Not just an attorney, but the former head of the NCAA Infraction Committee, Gene Marsh. This indicates that Tressel has no plans on voluntarily stepping down as the Ohio State Head Coach.
The absolute stupidity of this move is beyond anyone’s comprehension UNLESS that person has something to hide, and/or is afraid that the NCAA Investigators will find damaging evidence about him. What Tressel has done is told the NCAA Investigators that he is afraid of something. You can bet that the NCAA will now look under every rock to try and find out what that is.
This news cannot be good for Ohio State. Their Head Coach hires an attorney before any action is taken, or any allegations are made. Why? Is Tressel afraid that the NCAA will extend his suspension, or ban him from coaching? Is he afraid that Ohio State will fire him? Does he have something to hide that could lead to criminal charges? While none of this has even been alleged, one has to wonder why Tressel felt so insecure about his position at Ohio State that he felt that he had to hire an attorney at this very early date. The last thing Ohio State needed was to give the NCAA a reason to expand their investigation, and Tressel has just done that.
If I were Ohio State, I would fire tressel immediately. He has lied to the University and to the NCAA. He has run a dirty program. Now he hires an attorney for no aparent reason, or no reason that anyone knows of, except Tressel and his attorney. All this will do is further damage the Football Program. He has invited the NCAA to throw the book at Ohio State. He has unnecessairily put Ohio State under a microscope now. The NCAA will now look under every rock to find something illegal involving Tressel and the Ohio State program. Even if nothing comes out of this particular investigation, as long as Tressel is the Ohio State Head coach, the NCAA will watch him and scrutinize every single move that he and the University makes. No University can survive that kind of scrutany. It will kill recruiting, at best. Tressel damaged his reputation beyond repair. He gives the appearance of guilt, and that is all the NCAA needs to investigate him from now until he retires as an active head coach.
