We’ve faithfully chronicled the trials and tribulations of Dez Bryant here on BTB this year, and have occasionally let the hullabaloo, brouhaha and mayhem that surrounded many of the news reports about Dez Bryant affect us. Not so Jerry Jones, who seems to be made of some stronger stuff.

The NFL Network’s Albert Breer talked to Jones at the owners meetings earlier this week, and it appears that Jones isn’t overly concerned about Bryant.

“I really wouldn’t want to address any particular player. But I will, since I was asked the question — no, I’m not concerned,” Jones told me. “I think that Dez does have accountability right now, not only within himself, but also to his teammates. And at the end of the day, those two constituencies, Dez himself as well as his teammates, are the ones that are gonna make the biggest difference in his life. So he’s in the right area for the right type of influence, and I think that will have a positive impact.”

Veteran Cowboys have reached out to Bryant after his highly publicized troubles, and Bryant has sported an exemplary attendance record at the player-led workouts recently, but the front office is not allowed to work with him.

While Jones may be downplaying his concerns here just a teenie weenie little bit for PR purposes, I like the underlying assumption of what he is saying: The only people who should be concerned about Dez Bryant should be the opposing defensive coordinators.
