The Dallas Mavericks overcame yet another fourth quarter deficit to pick up a victory in game five over the Oklahoma City Thunder and advance to the NBA Finals. It is only the second time in team history that the team has advanced to the finals.
2006 was the last time that Dallas was present in the NBA Finals and only two players remain from that team — Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry…

No. 1 Star: Martin St. Louis, Tampa Bay Lightning
The diminutive forward was the motor in Tampa’s 5-4 victory over the Boston Bruins to force a Game 7 Friday night. St. Louis scored twice and set up another in the win and is now tied with David Krejci for the lead in goals with 10. After Krejci scored to cut…
Rafael Soriano got some not-so-great news Wednesday: he won’t be pitching again until likely after the All-Star Break.
The New York Yankees’ $35 million setup man, who cozied up to the disabled list on May 17, was diagnosed with an inflamed ligament in his right elbow… the same ligament which was repaired with Tommy John surgery back in 2004. Not good. Rafael Soriano got some not-so-great news…
Several times in these playoffs, we’ve been pretty amazed to have been reminded that the only championship ring on the Dallas Mavericks roster belongs to head coach Rick Carlisle, who won one as a reserve with the Boston Celtics in 1986. We’re all aware of guys like Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd falling short in the Finals, but to have nobody on that bench even sneak his way into a championship parade? Kind of crazy…

The club did address the situation somewhat in the [...]
Teresa Edwards had a little fun at Sheryl Swoopes’ expense, saying the WNBA’s first three-time MVP seldom took her calls when the two were players in the early days of the league.
“But she took this one,” Edwards laughed Monday as she recounted her offseason call to Swoopes.
Edwards, a new assistant coach…
The Detroit Red Wings have announced a press conference for 11:00am Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena where it is expected that defenseman Brian Rafalski will announce his retirement from the National Hockey League after eleven seasons.* This was Rafalski’s fourth season in Detroit after previously playing for the New Jersey Devils, and in Sweden and Finland. Dirk Nowitzki was looking to take control of this series between the Dallas Mavericks & the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. Nowitzki is one of four players in NBA history to average 25 points & 10 rebounds in his playoff career. Nowitzki continued to add to his playoff presence in NBA history by continuing to shoot over 50% from behind the 3-point line in the playoffs & scored 40 points in the game. Dirk had 22 points & was perfect from 3-point range…
