We knew more of these types of stories would be coming. It almost sounds cliche to write that, with the NFL lockout in full effect, but the truth is the truth. We the media have less to do just like the players have more time on their hands. So the more scandalous off the field stuff that goes down, the more we’ll have to talk about. Expect lots more in the summer of 2011

Last night Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia (where he played his college football for the Bulldogs) on a drunk driving charge.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

The DeKalb County sheriff’s office says the former Super Bowl MVP and “Dancing With the Stars” champ was arrested early Saturday. He was booked into the DeKalb County jail in suburban Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond.

DeKalb County officials did not release any further information because the case has already been turned over to the courts. But Deadspin has acquired his mug shot (pictured above)
