Believe it or not, as much scrutiny as the New York Mets get, they are having a very productive 2011 season. They are playing really hard, they are a likable bunch, they are two games over .500 when most people thought they would 20 games under .500 at this point in the season, and they have been able to ship off some of their veterans for some much needed young talent.

While the trade of Francisco Rodriguez didn’t yield any of the Milwaukee Brewers top prospects, the trade they made yesterday and that was finalized this morning did.

The Mets will send OF Carlos Beltran and about $4 million in cash to the San Francisco Giants for RHP Zack Wheeler. The deal was first reported by Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports.

This is a great score for the the Mets.
