To say Cleveland Indians OF Shin-Soo Choo has had an eventful past 24 hours would be an understatement.
Shoo spent Monday in the hospital with his wife Won Mi Ha as she gave birth to a baby girl. The pregnancy was a difficult one reports Dennis Manoloff of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Choo didn’t plan on playing in the doubleheader the Indians had scheduled today.
Thankfully for the Indians, Choo’s wife gave him the go-ahead to play.
With the Indians down 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Choo came to the plate against Seattle Mariners closer Brandon League and Choo delivered like a champ. Choo roped a three-run home run to the opposite field to give the Indians the 7-5 win.
The HR was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Indians as they lost their previous four games. With the Indians holding on to their playoff hopes by a thread, they need all the wins they can get.
Congrats to Choo for his game-winning hit, but more importantly, congrats on the birth of his new daughter.
