“The Stack” 9-26-11
Hello everyone and welcome to today’s “The Stack” with me, Nathan Stacken. What another aweesome, wild week of football we saw yesterday. Many great games. Some pretty big upsets. Picks yesterday were decent, going 9-6. We’ll get to tonight’s pick in a little bit. Now here’s a little reaction from all of Sunday’s games.
Buffalo 34 New England 31
Wow! Yet another wild game in Buffalo. The Bills fell behind 21-0, and I like most everybody else thought the Bills just didn’t have it in them to beat the Patriots. Heck, they had lost fifteen straight games to the Patriots. But these are the the new Bills, and they do not panic. Ryan Fitzpatrick was instrumental in leading the Bills back. They scored 31 unanswered points. Tom Brady did not play like Tom Brady. While he did throw for 387 yards, he also had four interceptions. His four interceptions and the Bills win also takes away from Wes Welker’s day. Welker had 16 recpetions for 217 yards and a touchdown. Just your typical day at the office. This is probably the game that will wake the Patriots up, but for right now, smile Bills fans. Your team is atop the AFC East.
Carolina 16 Jacksonville 10
Did you see highlights of this game? It was a monsoon. That slowed Cam Newton down, but he threw a touchdown when his team needed it most and the Panthers got their first win of the Ron Rivera-Cam Newton era. Expect many more to come. Was a fun game to watch, probably not a great one to watch live.
San Francisco 13 Cincinnati 8
This was a snooze fest. It was 6-3 Bengals in the fourth quarter. The 49ers in the end made more plays and got the W. Coupled with the rest of the division results, the 49ers are atop the NFC West, a surprise to many.
Cleveland 17 Miami 16
You have to be impressed with Colt McCoy, leading the Browns to a game-winning touchdown drive with less than a minute to go. The Browns probably won’t make to the playoffs this year, but things are turning around in Cleveland. The Dolphins meanwhile, are a mess. It looks like it may be a long year in Miami, and head coach Tony Sparano may not be around to see it all.
