On The Sidelines with Titans4Vols and Jerry

nfl-preview-2011

Cleveland vs. Tennessee

Big Game this Week…Browns vs. Titans.
What do two of their biggest fans think?

Deb: Chris J has been off to a relatively slow start by CJ standards…will this be his breakout game? Is it important for the Browns not to underestimate him in this game?

T4Vols: Doesn’t look like it to me. The weakest part on the Titans entire team, not just the offense, is the interior o-line. Harris-Amano-Scott just haven’t even been able to have average run blocking, which doesn’t look good going up against a dominant(interior wise) defensive line.

Their defensive ends are their weak point, often being beaten by stretch and toss plays, but that may not matter if our interior gets pushed back so far it doesn’t even let CJ get to the outside. I’d say he has about a 30% chance of breaking out this game..but I’m not betting on it.

Jerry: This will probably be his breakout game. They need to stop CJ. With Kenny Britt out, hopefully the Browns will be able to focus more on CJ2K. It is of the utmost importance that the Browns DO NOT underestimate him…one great run is all it takes to get his confidence back, and then it will be lights out.

Deb: McCoy should benefit from the return of Hillis and Hasselbeck will be struggling to find a new target, but he’s also a seasoned pro. Do you expect it to be passing game from both teams?

T4Vols: Passing game from the Titans, but not from the Browns. Hillis and Hardesty are their bread and butter. Hasselbeck is the only thing we have working for us on offense. Nate Washington will have himself a good game, as he’s really improved this year, especially when being manned by the defense. Man to man coverage hasn’t stopped him all year long, but Haden will be the best corner he’s faced yet.

McCoy will have a decent game, but won’t put up big numbers. I see maybe 20-25 passes from him. Hasselbeck will probably put up another 250-300 yard, 2td type of performance.

Jerry: I’d like to think we’re going to see plenty of CJ2K from the Titans, and even more of Hillis and Montario Hardesty.

I’m really hoping this is where the one-two punch of the ground game comes from. But, knowing that it isn’t how the WCO works, we’ll see plenty of passing.

Deb: What does YOUR team need to do to win?

T4Vols: Establish something of a run game. Even if all CJ averages is just 4 yards per carry, we need to get something going. Take some of the pressure off of Hass from having to do it all.

Jerry: As with just about any team, they need to limit penalties and mental mistakes. After that, they need to force Hasslebeck to, as you said, “find that new target” and play stop the running game defense. Finally, get Hillis and Hardesty the ball so that they can chew up yardage, and control the clock.

Deb: Score prediction:

T4Vols: Browns take it 24-21. Cleveland is always an extremely tough place to play, and they have arguably their best strength(interior d-line) going up against our weakest point(interior o-line). That spells bad news for Chris Johnson. Hasselbeck will keep us in it, but can’t do it all by himself.

Jerry: Browns 16, Titans 13
