MLB Free Agents 2011: Potential Landing Spots for Boston Red Sox David Ortiz
Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz spoke earlier this week about wanting to start off fresh with a new club in 2012, this according to ESPN and multiple other sources.
Ortiz will turn 36 this November and will undoubtedly have to stay in the American League, given his DH position.
Ortiz knocked in 96 RBI in 2011 and went yard on opposing pitchers 29 times in 146 games, but his days in a Red Sox uniform seem to be all but over after the latest controversy coming out of Boston.
Here are three potential destinations for the one they call “Big Papi”:
New York Yankees
Rumors are that Ortiz would consider signing with Boston’s AL East rival this offseason. Add in that the Yankees are expected to part ways with current DH Jorge Posada and the pairing seems not so unlikely.
