A Real Test Of LeBron James’ Popularity In Akron

Many considered LeBron James a Benedict Arnold when he fled Cleveland for Miami in July 2010. After The Decision, LeBron’s camp made a point to distinguish between Cleveland and Akron, James’ actual hometown about 45 minutes away. He has since returned to Akron for public appearances without incident, despite the fervor of distaste in him that exists in Cleveland.

That said, supporters of a school bond ballot measure are putting a whole lot of faith in Akron’s continued acceptance of LeBron.
