Johnny Jolly was part of the Green Bay Packers 2006 NFL draft class but five and a half years later he’s on his way to prison. The AP reports Jolly has been sentenced to six years in prison for violating his probation on a drug charge. Jolly is currently on an indefinite suspension from the NFL.

He can apply for probation in January 2013.

Jolly was arrested in October for possession of codeine and tampering with evidence, which was his third drug arrest in three years. That arrest violated the probation he received the previous April.

Jolly’s story, which was recently chronicled on ESPN’s Outside The Lines, is a sad one. He was a starter for the Packers in 2008 and 2009 but was suspended by the league in the summer of 2010. He didn’t play for the Packers as they went on to win a Super Bowl. He’s been in trouble not only with the law but with the league multiple times since he came into the NFL.
