Miami’s Cowboy wears his Star proudly, Dolphins vs. Cowboys on Thanksgiving

boys-fishThe Miami Dolphins vs. The Dallas Cowboys…on Thanksgiving.

Sound familiar? That’s because you have to go back to 1993 when it last happened. One of the most memorable Thanksgiving Day games, and one Cowboys fans hate to remember. the Cowboys led the Dolphins 14-13 with just seconds remaining in a snow-filled Texas Stadium. Miami’s Pete Stoyanovich attempted a game winning 40 yard field goal that was blocked by the Cowboys’ Jimmie Jones. Dick Enberg of NBC proclaimed “The Cowboys will win.” However, Cowboys defensive lineman Leon Lett chased the ball and touched it, giving the Dolphins a chance to regain possession, and then kick a much shorter field goal to take an improbable 16-14 victory.

Now that our memories are refreshed, lets take it forward to 2011 where the Dolphins who started off the season a horrible 0-7 won it’s last three games and have momentum going into this Thanksgiving Day game and temporarily saving their Head Coach, Tony Sparano’s job. Oh yeah, the same coach who was brought to Miami by Bill Parcells, who at the time had just retired form coaching, most recently with the Cowboys. In which Sparano was Offensive line coach. This is also his first game coming back to Dallas since. Needless to say there are a few ties between these two teams coming into Thursday’s game.
