“The Stack” 12-15-11

stack_attack14Welcome to “The Stack” everyone. In today’s post, we’ll preview Jacksonville-Atlanta tonight, but first we have one topic that I hope will generate a little discussion. What is it? Find out now in Thursday’s “the stack” which starts right now:

1. Does a divine power help certain teams certain years?

First off, I would imagine that most sports fans are superstitious to a degree. We all have a favorite jersey we wear, a beverage we drink, some food we eat, a place to sit that we will continue to go back to week after week if our team gets on a roll because they started on their roll when we first put on that jersey, etc. Is it silly? Absolutely! Do we do it because we believe that some all-powerful being or spirit will help? Some of us may perhaps. It’s the energy that surrounds us that makes us think that what we do had an impact when it reality, we have nothing to do with it. But it makes us think.

Which leads me into the big debate on whether or not there is a divine power that leads teams to great seasons and championships. Hear my argument first before you choose to agree or disagree. I’ll admit it’s a bit of stretch, but one that may be fun for debate.

Let’s be honest, if you’re a fan of a bad team (Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Clippers, etc., etc.,) you often wonder to yourself, at least I do, “why does my team suck”? I’ll admit, I often pray asking the Lord to help my team win. It just seems like teams like the ones I mentioned are cursed. Sure management and coaching have a lot if not everything to do with it,but wouldn’t it just be nice for once to get that great general manager or coach or players to help get your team win a championship.
