“The Stack” 1-9-12
Wow! Tim Tebow does it again. What a way to end NFL wild card weekend. Picks, not great. 2-2. Room to improve. “The Stack” is here today to break down all four wildcard weekend matchups and preview the big BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and LSU. Now let’s dive right into “the stack” for today, Monday, January 9:
Houston 31 Cincinnati 10
The Texans, in their first ever playoff game in franchise history, had a few butterflys early, but got rid of them quickly on their way to their first playoff win in franchise history. The momentum shifted to the Texans favor when defensive end J.J. Watt made a maginficent play, picking off Andy Dalton and running it back for a touchdown with under a minute to go in the first half. That play gave the Texans a 17-10 lead headed into halftime and complete control and momentum. T.J Yates played a mistake free game and Arian Foster, after a couple of bad plays to start the game, finished with 153 yards and two touchdowns. His last touchdown was a magnificent run down the sideline that looked for sure as though he was going to be out. The best thing about Foster is that he runs with so much ease. At times he looks like he’s jogging, gliding along. It was also nice to see Andre Johnson get a touchdown catch. He has been waiting a long time for this moment and he is the Texans. Obviously the atmosphere in Reliant Stadium was electric and the defense for the Texans was phenominal. The Bengals I thought had more balance on offense headed into the gamae which is why they were going to win, but the Texans defense was so good and Dalton made several mistakes (he threw three interceptions) and the defense also didn’t take advantage of several opportunities when presented to them (including an interception dropped by Chris Crocker which could have gone back all the way and tied the game 17-17).
